The Leads Club, based in the United States with branches in Ireland and Australia has a rigid structure in which members are required to attend weekly breakfast or lunch meetings to keep making new connections. Now that's a lesson in networking we can all learn.

Fortune Small Business - September 2000

" ...There is some debate about who started the first leads club, but most sources point to Ali Lassen, a struggling, single mother with four young children to support, in Huntington Beach, CA in the 1970's. She was selling fine arts and Shaklee health products to try to make ends meet but needed new customers. Discouraged from joining the city's service clubs, which were all-male, she founded Ali Lassens' Leads Club in 1978, which was just for women. In 1984, the organization began accepting men. Today, the club has 400 Chapters worldwide."
