In April 1987, I was working as a Cruise Ship Lecturer on the Island Princess as it cruised to Acapulco. One of the women who attended all my lectures was newlywed Mitzy Hellman of La Habra Heights.
In October 1987, my phone rang one evening and Mitzy invited me to attend the La Habra/Whittier Leads Club the following Tuesday morning. She was serving as Chapter Director and found my business card from the cruise encounter six months earlier. At that time I was working as an image consultant and riding the current wave of "color analysis" made popular by the Carol Jackson book,

I had no idea what Leads Club was, but one visit sold me on the intellectual stimulation provided by the women in the group. (We became co-ed later.) So, I joined the group in October 1987 and one year later, Sherrie McNamee, the clinical psychologist in Leads, told me that she thought I should add a line of clothing to my consulting business. she he clothing from a friend in Northern California, flying up there two times a year to see the Doncaster line. at first I was very hesitant, but Sherrie arranged for me to meet with the District Manager of Doncaster in Orange County. In December 1988, I became a representative of the line. At my first Doncaster showing, Ale Hogue gave me a Lead of two sisters who both loved clothes. One of them was a neighbor of hers. They came to my house, spent two hours, "playing" with all the samples and both of them bought a lot of clothes. I remember thinking, "Oh, this is how it works!" Leads Club has continued to help me build my business from sales that first year of $25,000 to $65,000 in 1995 to $100,000 in 1999 and sales in 2006 of $210,000. The spin-off leads that have come form this club now account for about 20% of my sales. At one time, 40% of my sales were from this Club. So, that is my story. I tell this with deep gratitude for Ali Lassen’s vision which led to the formation of Leads Club in 1978 and for Mitzy Hellman’s invitation which encouraged me to join this group in 1987.A referral is: Sending someone you care about To someone you respect.

As I complete my thirteenth year with Leads Club I have a lot to be grateful for. I belong to the Beach Cities Chapter in San Diego. It is an outstanding group of professional women who I continually learn from and who provide great support to my business as a Mortgage Broker. The referrals from this group consistently provide ten to twelve percent of my business each year.
While we are not a 'social' club, the professional and personal support I receive from the members is the same as the support I receive from my family and friends. I have been a member of Leads Club since October, 1987. I look at my Leads Club members as my sales representatives for my business. With the combination of business received, relationships, both business and personal, practice in public speaking, education in business and the sharing of strategies and guidance during the challenging time, there is no other method or group that could offer so much

When guests visit, and/or new members join, I always strive to help the individual. The meetings and structure can be overwhelming, so I try and answer questions. Many of them cannot believe that I have been a member since 1987, so I always give them my two cents. I explain that they must give a minimum of three months of good attendance, familiarity with each member, and 100% commitment from the heart. Everything is not measured in the sales. The overall education and experience being in a group of such professionals reaches further than just the dollars generated.

In the early 1980’s an intern friend of mine introduced me to
Leads Club. She took me to a meeting where I was amazed to see about 35 business leads pass between about 20 people.
Several months later, when I became a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I knew I wanted to join that group! But, as we all know, only one person per profession, and there were already therapists in all the other San Fernando Valley Chapters. Then I contacted Eileen Elliott about starting a new chapter. During our extensive talks, I thought I heard her say something about needing 30 people to start a chapter. So during the next 4 months, I talked to over 400 women. At our first meeting, we had 35 women attend, and 28 signed up! That was the beginning of the Calabasas Chapter. We all flourished and our businesses grew.
Then, due to a job transfer for my husband, we moved to the South Bay. I was fortunate enough to join the Beach Side Professionals and grew a practice based solely on the referrals from them. (an aside: for a couple of years I was commuting from the South Bay to the Valley while my business was growing. As a result of the Northridge earthquake, my office was "red tagged" and I was not permitted to enter. I contacted a Chiropractor that I knew from Leads and she generously offered to let me use space in her office. So, we may not be a social club, but the friendships that grow are priceless.)
Another job transfer brought us to the Ventura area. Again, I sought out Leads Club, started another Chapter with Nancy Hawks, and began to grow my business. During that time I became a Chapter Consultant, so was able to get to know members in other groups. One particular Chapter was phenomenal, and when the therapist left the group, I quickly applied for the spot. During the first six months in that group, my business grew and I was able to attribute over $4,000 of referrals to my association with Leads.
The phrase "nothing succeeds like success" could have been written for Leads Club. Leads Club is a professional way to market your business, find out what other businesses are in your community, and develop lasting relationships and friendships. A

I joined Leads about 3 years ago. Originally, it was to help me get leads for my work
with Closet World. I have known for many years now that I wanted to have my own interior design firm but just didn’t know how to pursue it. Working for Closet World was part of that step, because it allowed me time to pursue my own personal clients and be able to go to industry showrooms during the week, but I was still having trouble developing an initial customer base.
One of my fellow Leads members bought a house and I offered her some help in picking out colors and furniture. One thing led to another and I ended up designing a good part of her house. After six years of self employment, as a painter, I decided that it was time to do something more. I wanted to take my business to the next level. I heard about Ali Lassen's Lead Club from my wife,Heather, who was the president of the Derby City Chapter in Louisville, KY. Heather invited me to visit a couple of times before I got the nerve to go. I was very skeptical of joining because of the fees and there were no other blue collar members.
After finally visiting twice, I decided to join. I had to try something to increase my business. By my third meeting I felt very comfortable talking with the other members and giving my promotionals. The one on one meetings taught me how to accurately promote my business to others and how to find leads for the other members.
By my sixth meeting I received my first lead. I remember how good it made me feel. People were getting to know me as a person and not just a painter. That first lead also made enough money to cover the whole years worth of membership fees.
My first year in the club was a great one. I had approximately a $20,000. increase in revenue. But more importantly, I developed strong business relations with several power partners. The stuctured meetings and support I received along the way allowed me to stay focused and truely take my business to the next level.
In April 2005, I received a lead from Lynn Manizza with Century 21 Insurance. She referred me to a small contracting company called American Construction Group, Inc. The first job I did for them was just a few hundred dollars, but it lead to a large government job in Fort Knox, Kentucky.
I later joined up with American Construction as the Sales and Marketing Director and have 25 employees. I am also part owner of the company and owe it all to that one lead. It does take patience and determination however, Alli Lassen's Leads Club made it all possible. I would recommend the club to anyone looking to take there business to that next level. When I moved to California to start my State Farm career I was having lunch with another female agent. I asked her what organizations I should join to help my business grow. She was a LEADS CLUB member and immediately said join LEADS CLUB. I got Eileen's number and called her office. There was no opening for insurance at the time, but another Chapter was forming.
I was the recorder for the newly formed Beverly Hills Chapter and stayed a member until the Chapter disbanded. I immediately transferred to the Century City Chapter and have been a member ever since. Every day I have contact with a LEADS CLUB member, referrals or possible insured and it was LEADS CLUB that helped my business succeed. I now say that I cannot afford to leave the LEADS CLUB as I have too many friends and insureds.

From the moment I joined Leads Club Santa Barbara Tuesday Lunch Women's division Chapter in April 1991 I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
