 Lin’s training and experience in sales and marketing came from years of working in the hotel and resort industry across the US where the name of the game was “get heads in beds and butts on bar stools.”

With an educational background rooted in Organizational Management, Strategic Planning And Marketing Communications, Lin’s duties included leading regional sales teams, managing in-house advertising agencies, working with vendors, developing imaginative and compelling promotional copy and creating countless business proposals, marketing plans, feasibility studies, budgets, etc. for more than 50 hotels and resorts across the United States.

Over the years, Lin’s passion and mission have become one in the same: “using her Marketing Communications skills to help individuals and organizations that help others in some meaningful way.”

Lin volunteers as a Mentor with SCORE San Diego and today, as a writer, art advocate and aspiring artist, Lin’s focus is on helping to promote the Fine Arts community in North County San Diego.

Constant Contact, the E newsletter company, offers Free Workshops here in San Diego and around the country, teaching tips and techniques on email marketing and how to use their program.  I attended the 2 hour session and felt it well worth the time and 2 hour round trip ride there.   Here are a few of the many highlights:

*  Keep marketing in a down economy!!  Those who do are substantially more successful when things turn around.

* Building your List:  Give something away.

*The most valuable Real Estate on your newsletter is the upper left corner. 

He also included the best days and times to send and used Australia as an example of how they read emails at a different time than folks in the US.

“Four Steps to Building Your Business”

#1 Become known as the referral source.

Wouldn’t it be great if your friends, family and business Associates came to you every time they needed a referral? It’s not that unusual. Think about last time you need a product or service that you had not needed in the past. Did you go to the yellow pages or did you ask a friend? For me, the phone book is the last resort, I would much rather work with someone that some I know, knows.

So, how do you become known as the Referral Source? It’s easy!

  1. Make a list of all of the people you know who provide you and your family, friends and office with products and services.
  2. Ask those people if they would mind if you stated referring them to people you know and meet.
  3. Ask them for a supply of their business cards, promotional materials or a link to their website.
